Lander review – easily build landing pages

If you run campaigns, you often need to build landing pages. A landing page creator would come in handy to streamline creating the process

One important part of your digital marketing strategy is landing pages. No matter if you’re running a PPC campaign, email marketing, or social media ads, every single one of them leads to a landing page. Clearly you want to make it powerful, intriguing, and beautiful. In one word, you want it to convert, to have high conversions rates.

But when you start to build one, you find it’s not so easy as it seems, even if it’s just a single page. You start to feel overwhelmed and this may even slow or stop your launch. If you’re stuck or just want to streamline your process, you need a tool that can help you create landing pages.

Who is Lander for?

No matter if you’re an in-house marketer, marketing consultant, entrepreneur, or business owner in charge of marketing, Lander can help you build landing pages without IT or design skills. This will shorten the time you need to create your campaigns so that you have more time to glean insights from the data of your campaigns and develop new ones.

How easy is Lander to use?

Instead of taking you to your dashboard as many other landing page builders do, you’re onboarded with a short video tutorial and are ready to create your first landing page.

When you click on the plus sign, you get to create your first landing page

After picking your template you’re taken to the editor. You don’t need to know HTML or CSS with its drag-and-drop editor. At the time of writing, Lander just launched its new editor. I’m only going to talk about the new editor because the old one will be decommissioned soon.

Lander’s editor shows your landing page in the main window and has a right sidebar with all the functions. You get a tools toolbar for the elements you want to include and a properties section to tweak the elements or the entire page. The editor has the handy undo and redo buttons. For precise placement, you can toggle on the guides and grid.

The interface is well-laid-out and every element is well-labelled so that it’s easy to get around and get things done. But sometimes, Lander can be just buggy. It can suddenly reload and your progress isn’t saved. And sometimes, it isn’t even possible to log in to get to the editor.

Lander design and templates

When this review was written, Lander just launched its new editor which promises new templates. This can be the reason why some templates appear to be missing. The choice of templates is pretty limited – even if Lander says on its website that it has more than 100 templates. The templates are categorised in use case scenario (instead of industries).

Well designed and mobile-ready templates

How to manage your ecommerce store in Lander?

Lander wants to make it possible to create landing pages for any marketing goal regardless of the campaign that you’re launching. Hence, managing an online store is out of scope. But since you can add custom code to your page, you can still add a shopping cart solution to your page with Ecwid.

Lander integrations

Lander has a dedicated section with all the possible integrations. If you don’t find your service, you can always use webhooks if you got a developer at hand or Zapier to integrate with your desired service. But both are only available in the professional plan.

How your landing page performs can be seen directly in the dashboard. You can see with one glance what the conversion rate, is and how many people have visited your page. That’s also where you can do everything you need to do split testing.

You can edit the meta title, meta description, and keywords in the settings of each page.

Thank you or confirmation page

You can build a mini funnel and don’t need a separate tool. The mini funnel consists of a landing page, a thank you page, and a welcome email when your audience has completed a form.

Payment options

Even if running a full-fledged store is out of scope, you can still accept payments with the provided Paypal button.

Lander security

As a hosted landing page builder, Lander is taking care of security and maintenance. The landing pages hosted are secured with SSL.

Lander customer support

You can reach out to support via chat or email (chat is only available in the professional plan) There’s also a searchable help centre which includes articles and how-to videos.

Lander pricing

You get to choose between its basic and professional plans. If you need an integration that’s not listed, you need Zapier or webhooks. And this means you need to upgrade to the professional plan.

You can save up to 66% if you choose to pay annually

Is Lander the right tool for you?

If you need a simple tool to help you quickly build attractive landing pages, take a look at Lander. It has an easy-to-grasp interface and you can build a simple mini funnel. It’s a well-rounded landing page builder that comes with easy-to-manage reporting and split testing. It’s a good place to start for novices. But you quickly need to upgrade if you need more integrations or more visitors coming.

Unfortunately, it’s also a bit buggy. For days, I couldn’t log into my account and when I finally could, the editor would refresh without warning.

If you need a more integrated tool so that you can build the entire funnel without jumping from one browser tab to the next, why not take a look at Sunny Lead Pages or Engagebay?
